Gramy na Macintoshu


Na początek kilka złych wiadomości dla graczy.
  • Komputery Apple nie są niestety maszynami przeznaczonymi do grania. Tańszy Mac Mini lub iMac nie jest zaopatrzony w kartę graficzną o zbyt dużych możliwościach, w podstawowej konfiguracji posiada też nie za dużo pamięci RAM. Droższy (i konfigurowalny) Powermac przewyższa dwukrotnie ceną przyzwoitego peceta złożonego z myślą o zabawie w gry.

  • Ilość tytułów wychodzących na Maka jest znikoma w porównaniu do tych, jakie ukazują się na PC. Możemy też zapomnieć o polskich lokalizacjach. Nikomu nie opłaca się ich robić. Jedyna znana mi gra, jaka ma polską wersję językową to Sim City 4.

  • Nie kupimy gry na naszego Macintosha w EMPiKu ani innym sklepie z oprogramowaniem. W Polsce nikomu nie opłaca się sprowadzać gier na Maka (poza nielicznymi przypadkami nośników hybrydowych PC/Mac). Jesteśmy skazani na prywatny import, Allegro lub sklepy internetowe za granicą.

  • Firma Apple kilka razy zmieniała w przeciągu ostatniego dziesięciolecia profil hardware'owy i software'owy swoich komputerów:
    Procesory: 68k-PowerPC-G3-G4-G5-Intel.
    System operacyjny: 7.x-8.x-9.x-X(PowerPC)-X(Intel)
    Każda zmiana wymagała od developerów wprowadzenia zmian do oprogramowania tak by sprostać nowym wymaganiom systemowym. Nie zawsze odpowiednie patche zostały napisane. Zdarza się, że gra stworzona na starszą platformę nie będzie działać z nowszą.
